Explore Ribeauville
France This Way review: Ribeauville is a pleasant town to explore with narrow streets of medieval Alsace houses, and parts of the ancient town walls and associated towers (including the sturdy square Tour des Bouchers) to be seen.

Among particular highlights to be seen in Ribeauville are the 18th century Town Hall, the traditional wheat storage hall, and the Maison des Ménétriers (a particularly decorative 17th century house). You will also see two churches and a grand stone building called the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de Dusenbach.
However the main pleasure comes from simply strolling through the picturesque streets admiring the many half-timbered houses in Ribeauville, many dating from the 16th century, with the occasional historic fountain or particularly interesting historical detail to admire.
The main square in the centre of the town is overlooked by picturesque houses and the town hall and has several cafes where it is very pleasant to rest for a while as well as an impressive fountain. The weekly market takes place here in the Place de l'Hotel de Ville each Saturday morning.
Attractions nearby
Running up the side of the hill above the village is a cluster of three castles (Chateau Saint-Ulrich, Chateau Girsberg and Chateau Haut-Ribeaupierre) that overlook the town and are easily accessible via a marked trail that passes all three castles.
The town is best known as a place to explore the many castles and villages in this part of Alsace. The two nearby villages at Hunawihr and Riquewihr are both classified among the 'most beautiful villages of France' while among the others close to hand are Bergheim, Beblenheim and Kaysersberg. Ribeauvillé is on the Alsace Wine Route.
