France This Way review: while it is not the most important village to visit in the Gorges du Tarn, Les Vignes is an attractive village in a lovely riverside setting

Start your visit at the bridge in the centre of Les Vignes. The bridge is made of stone but is not of great historical interest.
The views along the river from the bridge, and across the river elsewhere in the village, are the highlight of your visit, and most of your visit consists of a stroll along the riverside.
To see more of the village centre you can follow a small road through the centre of Les Vignes that leads from the parking to the bridge, just north of the main road. As you explore you will see traditional architecture such as stone roofs and chimneys and an ancient small chapel with a belltower.
There is a small beach on the river in Les Vignes, and you can rent a a canoe in the village (about 100 metres upstream from the bridge, next to the main car park) if you want to further explore the Tarn - the scenery along the river here is very picturesque and a canoe is a very good way to explore.
The village has very limited commerces, with little more than a cafe, a small village store and a gift shop to detain you so a visit will not take very long unless you stay for the beach.

Attractions nearby
Also on the Tarn river, about two kilometres north of the village there is a belvedere at Pas de Soucy where you climb a steep flight of stairs to reach a very pretty viewpoint on the river. (There is a small access charge to reach the viewpoint at Pas de Soucy.)
Elsewhere in the gorges there are several villages to visit and a great deal of beautiful scenery to see: see Gorges du Tarn for information.
