France This Way review: The greenhouses are spectacular structures and inside are a wide range of interesting plants.

The greenhouses are part of the National Museum of Natural History of France along with some other sites around Paris and France.
There are three large greenhouses in the Jardin des Plantes. The two oldest were built between 1830 and 1840 and are amongst the oldest glass and steel structures in Europe.
These hold the plants of New Caledonia in one and a collection depicting the history of plants in the other.
The third and largest greenhouse was built in an Art Deco style in the 1930s. This is the entrance to the greenhouses and you can buy your tickets in the Art Deco porch.
The large greenhouse is a huge space given over to plants and trees found in tropical rainforests throughout the world.
The collection includes palms from the Bermudas, Monstera plants from central America, kapok trees and banana palm.
There is a pond with water plants from tropical areas and the path to explore the greenhouse leads through a 'cave' with steps up to a higher level where you can view the 'tropical jungle' from above.
Next leave the tropical space and walk through the greenhouse of deserts and arid spaces. This greenhouse is a gallery on the edge of the tropical greenhouse.
Here there is an interesting collection of cacti and succulents some of which are quite large.
Following these enter the next greenhouse which is devoted to the plants of New Caledonia. This plants of this area were separated for a long time from the rest of the world and developed their own unique adaptations.
The New Caledonia greenhouse contains plants from five specific environments: humid forest, dry forest, mining maquis, savannah and mangrove.
The final greenhouse which in itself is spectacular like the New Caledonian greenhouse is home to a collection of plants which demonstrate the evolution of plants and is called the Greenhouse of Plant History.
Over 400 million years of plant evolution have taken place and this greenhouse helps to understand the progression and importance of plants.
